Socio-Culture Sebangau Community

Sebangau community mostly works as fishermen, farmer, gemor (Alsedophne umbeliflora) (used as raw material to make mosquito repellent or mosquito coil), Jelutung (Dyera costulata), rubber and fruits. They depend on natural resources in Sebangau to get the income.
The Sebangau population came from various ethnic. In Katingan District, it consists of mainly Dayak people (45%), Javanese (35%), Banjarnese (10%), and with small number of other ethnic groups (10%). In Pulang Pisau District, it consists of mainly of Javanese and Sundanese (85%), Dayak (8%) and Banjarnese (7%). And Palangkaraya Municipality consists of mainly of Dayak (60%), Banjarnese (20%) and Javanese (20%).

Dayak as the original ethnic of Central Kalimantan has tradition and in heritage cultural full of noble and chaste values that has been trusted since long time ago and has strong influence in every aspect of life.
