Marine Program in WWF-Indonesia started in 1993. After 1998, eco-regional approach to conservation are specifically intensified for the Sulu-Sulawesi Marine Eco-region. This approach in specific is strengthening by providing examples of active marine conservation and fisheries management in several priority areas in Bunaken National Park and West Bali National Park.
At the national level, regional and eco regional conservation have received support from the marine conservation program and the reform of fisheries management policy. Further, WWF have also developed a management capacity development program to WWF’s important partners in the region and at the national level through trainings and joint implementation in monitoring and fisheries management.
