Coordination Meeting on Heart of Borneo Program of WWF-Indonesia

A meeting for coordination and evaluation on Heart of Borneo program in WWF-Indonesia was organized on 10-11 June 2009. This was also part of preparation to end the fiscal year. The meeting was attended by all implementing staff related to the Heart of Borneo, both programs (West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan) and thematic (Global Forest Trade Network, Forest Conversion Program, Environmental Education, Species, Spatial Planning, REDD-Climate).

Prince Charles’ Visit to Heart of Borneo
Heart of Borneo received a special visit from Prince Charles. His trip to Badas Forest Reserve in Belait District on October 31, 2008 allowed him planting the 1,000th Tulong tree (Agathis borneensis) in the forest. This is part of Million Trees Project from International School with Forestry Department.

Protecting Forest for Endangered Species & Better Livelihoods, Indonesia to establish 1 million hectares of new protected areas
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia- Indonesian government declared its commitment to protect the nation forests by the establishment of 12 new protected areas covering approximately 1 million hectares, including Tesso Nilo in Riau, Sumatra and Sebangau in Central Kalimantan in 2004, Director General Of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation, Koes Saparjadi, announced it at COP 7 Convention on Biodiversity side event.
